Migrating a national retailer from Legacy ERP

Overview

The national retailer faced the challenge of migrating their ERP from a Legacy environment to a modern service platform to meet their 24x7 business needs and customer expectations. A drawn out migration to a new ERP would be costly and only serve to further frustrate the business who needed to see more immediate value. The client needed a specialist team to consult on and execute the business needs while maintaining business availability.

About

The client, a large automotive retailer in Australia boasts more than 3000 staff, serving millions of customers from over 200 locations throughout Australia.

Challenges

To enable a migration to a supported platform and product to sustain growth for both the business and the retail environment. The main challenge was due to the 24x7 operational nature of the business being able to successfully migrate with the smallest possible outage window.

Solution

Drawing from Pitchforks pool of skilled DBAs and Linux engineers we were able to design a methodology to migrate the live production environment to the new systems in real time with only a 6 hour outage window.

Result

Business operations were migrated within the acceptable outage time and the ongoing expertise support from Pitchfork has increased business reliability and performance to ensure growth of the company in their Supply Chain operations.
